Crafting is something many players may need during a round, because it can be used to forge extremely durable armor and weapons that strike fear into anyone who stands in your way.
Bear in mind that gathering every resource and forging everything alone can be extremely difficult, so you may want to hire travelers / a faction.
Crafting requires gathering the materials needed to create each particular item:
Material
How to Obtain
Description

Wood
Obtained by felling a tree. Very common.
Needed in truly enormous quantities because it is used in most recipes, not to mention that it can be turned into coal in the Ancient Furnace.

Raw Clay
Obtained from a clay deposit. Look for it near rivers, lakes, and the ocean. It is fairly common when searched for in the right places.
Needed in fairly large quantities because it is used to make raw clay molds, which are fired into ordinary molds that are in turn used to smelt ore into ingots in the Ancient Furnace. It is also used in some other recipes.

Coal
Obtained from a coal vein or by processing wood in the Ancient Furnace. It occurs in caves and at the foot of mountains (along map edges and on cliffs near location-transition zones), though it is not very common.
Needed to smelt ore and fire molds in the Ancient Furnace. It may be used in some other crafts. Fairly large quantities are required, but if you have plenty of Wood, coal should not pose a problem.

Iron Ore
Obtained from an iron ore vein. Found in mines, caves, and at the foot of mountains (along map edges and on cliffs near location-transition zones). It is fairly common when searched for in the right places.
Needed in fairly large quantities. It is used to make iron ingots in the Ancient Furnace, which in turn are used in most crafts for other ingots and a wide variety of items.

Gold Ore
Obtained from a gold ore vein. Found in mines, caves, and at the foot of mountains (along map edges and on cliffs near location-transition zones). Fairly rare.
You generally do not need it at all, but it can be sold for a high price. It may be used to create various magical items at the magic forge. It appears in very few ordinary recipes, but selling it is still not recommended because it may be needed for especially expensive items. It should be smelted into ingots in the Ancient Furnace.

Hide
Obtained by butchering a wolf, bear, fox, or boar, so it is found everywhere. The saying "Do not divide the hide of a bear you have not killed" is very apt here, however.
Used in a wide variety of recipes. You generally do not need very much, but purchasing all of it whenever possible is recommended.

Spider Hair
Obtained by butchering a spider. Because spiders live in specific places (caves and mines), however, you will probably find it more often in chests containing random items.
Used to create highly specialized items, though keeping a small reserve is recommended. It is not the most useful resource at present.

Cotton
Grown from seeds in soil, so it does not occur naturally at all, but as much as needed can be cultivated.
Used to create cloth, which in turn is used to make certain items. If for some reason you cannot or do not want to grow cotton, footwear, cloaks, gloves, and most clothing can always be cut into cloth with almost any sharp object.

Crystal-Clear Topaz
Obtained from a vein containing topaz. Found in mines and caves. It is fairly rare and yields only a small amount, so you will probably find it more often in chests containing random equipment.
Hardly ever used in ordinary recipes and requires no processing. Most often used at the magic forge to create various highly useful items.

Fire Carnelian Crystal
Obtained from a vein containing carnelian. Look for it in mines and caves. It is fairly rare and yields only a small amount, so you will find it more often in chests containing random equipment.
Hardly ever used in ordinary recipes and requires no processing. Most often used at the magic forge to create various highly useful items. Like topaz, it fetches a good price, but it definitely should not be sold.

Adamantium
Obtained from stone containing adamantium crystals. Found in mines and caves. It is fairly rare and yields only a small amount, so you will find it more often in chests containing random equipment.
Hardly ever used in ordinary recipes and requires no processing. Most often used at the magic forge to create various highly useful items. Like carnelian and topaz, it fetches a good price, but selling it is not recommended.

Ebonite Ore
Obtained from the stone of a fallen star and occasionally found in chests. Very rare.
Needed for smelting into Ebonite ingots. An extremely useful material used to create very good armor, tools, and certain magical items. It is perpetually scarce, so take and buy all of it whenever possible, but bear in mind that not everyone will be willing to sell it.

Organic Fibers
Obtained from berry bushes. Very common.
Primarily used to make cloth at a workbench. Not very much is required overall.

Forestone Ore
Can be found in a cart or mined from a fallen star, and is occasionally found in crates. Very rare.
Needed for smelting into Forestone ingots. Used to create nearly the best armor, tools, and items, and sometimes used at the magic forge. Buy all of it whenever possible; it is perpetually scarce.
After creating any workpiece, it must be given its final shape. A workpiece can be shaped with an anvil and blacksmith's hammer after first being heated in the forge furnace.

Description

Blacksmith's Mittens
Perfect for grabbing something hot without burning your hands—and as we know, workpieces heated in the forge furnace are quite hot.

Blacksmith's Hammer
It can be used to forge various weapons, armor, and equipment on an anvil.

Workpiece
A workpiece for creating something, though it must be processed first.
To shape a workpiece that has been preheated in the forge furnace, you must complete a unique minigame using a blacksmith's hammer.
Flashes appear in the minigame. Each flash has three phases:

To obtain a high-quality item, you must click the flashes during their peak phase. The item's quality changes depending on the number of successful hits. If you hit the flashes too rarely, the armor's quality will be below average. The highest quality is magnificent, and it has a certain chance of being achieved after hitting the flashes in their peak phase 19-20 times.
The only advice I can offer is patience, as it will take at least a couple of attempts to get a feel for the right moment and learn to create, at worst, excellent-quality items. Good luck, traveler.
