Prejudices: there are too many humans to group them all by a single trait. Some peoples consider humans cruel and treacherous. Others see them as resourceful and enterprising.
This race most commonly worships: Magnus, Terra, and Kreza
Languages: Common (understanding and speaking)
Humans are the most widespread race of all despite their relatively short lifespan. For centuries, they developed evenly in every field. Through diplomacy, humanity traded and cooperated with other races such as the dwarves. This approach allowed humans to settle across the entire world, while the advent of heavy cavalry and dwarven crossbows compensated for their shortage of mages.
Prejudices: Most races consider Ratlings to be filthy thieves and scavengers, unworthy of trust. Some merchants and smugglers, however, value them for their cunning and useful connections in dark alleys.
Members of this race most often worship: Zaigo and Morbius
Languages: Common, Goblin (spoken and understood)
Ratlings are a race accustomed to surviving where no one else can: in sewers, slums, and the back alleys of large cities. They rarely hold high positions, but feel right at home in the shadows — as thieves, scouts, and information brokers. Their large numbers and resilience make up for the contempt shown by the island's other peoples.
Prejudices: humans consider reptilian an inferior race, while orcs see them as weaklings unable to defend themselves. Other races regard reptilian neutrally.
This race most commonly worships: Terra
Languages: Common, Hissing (understanding and speaking)
Reptilian are the second most populous race. Because of deep disunity and technological backwardness, they were often enslaved in the past. Reptilian can still be found serving as domestic help or cheap labor. Nevertheless, they have become numerous enough to defend themselves.
Prejudices: every race considers Wood Elves highly talented but prideful archers and healers.
This race most commonly worships: Soma and Magnus
Languages: Common, Elven (understanding and speaking)
Wood Elves are the island's fourth most populous race. Their long lifespan made them conservative. Their technology developed very slowly, causing them to yield their leading positions in the economy and other fields to humans and dwarves. Nevertheless, Wood Elves remain an intelligent and judicious people.
Prejudices: Wood Elves consider them a degraded version of themselves. Every race except the Wood Elves considers Dark Elves talented mages and assassins.
This race most commonly worships: Zaigo and Magnus
Languages: Common, Elven (understanding and speaking), Ancient (understanding)
A race that split from the Wood Elves long ago. Unlike their predecessors, Dark Elves strive for progress. Wishing to serve Morbius, many members of this race achieved mastery in the study of magic. They once fought the Wood Elves constantly, but time has cooled their fervor.
Prejudices: every race considers orcs foolish but also strong and honorable warriors, since they lack the wit to resort to tricks.
This race most commonly worships: Valtor and Nexar
Languages: Common, Orcish (understanding and speaking), Tribal (understanding)
A race that perfectly embodies the saying, "If you have brawn, you don't need brains." They are the least intelligent and physically strongest race, and therefore the least developed. Despite this, their warlike nature and stubbornness spared them from persecution, though they were often exploited as cheap labor for heavy work.
Prejudices: elves consider them noisy and irritable. Every race regards dwarves as the greatest masters of crafts and mining. Most humans are friendly toward dwarves.
This race most commonly worships: Pyrx and Nexar
Languages: Common (understanding and speaking)
The third most populous race. Their short stature made them the subject of mockery by elves. Dwarves, however, turned this disadvantage into an advantage by becoming professional miners, smiths, and artisans. Their race became the most advanced in metalworking. For centuries, dwarves cooperated with humans, exchanging high-quality, advanced goods for food, livestock, and cloth.
Prejudices: every race considers Munwulfs little more than animals.
This race most commonly worships: Terra
Languages: Common, Growling (understanding and speaking)
The Hellfire Inquisition once tried to wipe this race from the face of the earth. Although the island's inhabitants recognized the race as worthy of existence, persecution continues, if less fiercely than before. The Munwulf population is falling rapidly. Encountering a member of this race on the island is a great rarity.
Prejudices: poorly educated islanders consider skeletons embodiments of evil and servants of Morbius.
This race most commonly worships: Morbius and Nexar
Languages: Common, Cursed (understanding and speaking)
Cursed beings that are not a race in the conventional sense of the word. After death, they managed not only to rise again but also to retain their free will. They can live for centuries, but lose their sanity over time. Eventually, their minds submit to Morbius.
Prejudices: every race considers Nocturnes treacherous bloodsuckers. In many cultures, Nocturnes are mythical creatures that punish disobedient children.
This race most commonly worships: Zaigo and Valtor
Languages: Common, Ancient (understanding and speaking)
Long ago, this race carried out a bloody harvest across the entire continent, killing everyone in its path for blood and in an attempt to attain immortality. This brought them into battle with the Hellfire Inquisition in a centuries-long war. After heavy losses on both sides, peace was concluded, and the frenzy that had swept the continent subsided. The Nocturne population fell significantly, and they are now encountered quite rarely.
Prejudices: every race except Resonats considers Inferns kin to demons.
This race most commonly worships: Pyrx and Kreza
Languages: Common, Ancient (understanding and speaking)
This race was once considered a race of monsters because of its appearance and deeds, and was consequently persecuted by the Hellfire Inquisition. When war began, the Inferns used fire to win their right to exist.
Prejudices: every race considers Beastfolk either half-breeds or the ancestors of races such as humans and Munwulfs.
This race most commonly worships:Terra, Zaigo
Languages: Common (understanding and speaking)
A race that differs little from humans but is not considered human, much like the Munwulfs, with whom they share certain similarities. Some say Beastfolk arose from a union between a human and a Munwulf; others claim that humans and Munwulfs descended from Beastfolk.
Prejudices: in many cultures, Lamians are commonly called fishfolk, which is considered an insult. Merchants generally welcome Lamians warmly.
This race most commonly worships: Kreza and Zaigo
Languages: Common, Hissing (understanding and speaking)
Lamians are very distant relatives of reptilian. They lived in the ocean depths for many years, but came ashore to trade with advanced civilizations. Over time, through trade with maritime merchants, the cleverest and most enterprising Lamians made their way onto land.
Prejudices: every race except Dark Elves considers Resonats powerful mages. Some believe Resonats suck out brains and rule the entire world from the shadows.
This race most commonly worships: Magnus and Morbius
Languages: Common (understanding)
Resonats arrived from beyond the northern seas. Unlike Munwulfs, they avoided persecution by using their abilities and remaining hidden. Resonats avoid direct contact with one another. For unknown reasons, very many of them hold leadership positions in various guilds, factions, communities, and colleges.
