An Archivist is someone who cares for books and preserves the information they contain.
Information is a vital part of humanity, and passing the knowledge of people from the past to future generations requires someone who keeps it all in one place. The Archivist keeps the library clean and its books in order. They may also record current events, people's stories, or anything else they wish and preserve those writings in the library.
The library itself is located in the southeastern part of the port, below the forge. Its doors are open to everyone, and anyone can find something interesting to read there.
The Archivist is not only a keeper but also a wise writer, for all the time spent among books leaves its mark on the library itself.
The library's contents pass from one keeper to the next, so the material recorded there varies. One shelf may hold books describing battles and leaders of the past, while another may contain love stories steeped in the writer's feelings. There are no restrictions on what the books may contain; cleanliness and order are what matter.
Writing a book requires a couple of items:
Everyone can find a pastime in the library. If books hold little interest, you can always turn to a more visual pursuit. Painting is a difficult and labor-intensive process. Although anyone can take it up, not everyone can become great at it.
Painting requires only a few things:
Although the Archivist spends most of their time alone, that does not mean they cannot form relationships or meet with other people.
Not everyone wants constant war and dangerous adventures. Some people simply want a quiet life, and the abode of knowledge always has room for them. Book discussions, painting together, and many other activities all take place in the library. Sometimes drinking wine and discussing an interesting book is better than risking your life.
The Archivist is a free role unrestricted by specific obligations. You can spend the entire round writing books, drawing others into the library, or recording other people's stories. Everything that happens to you during the round depends only on how you choose to play.
