The Merchant of the Southern and Northern Lands plays an important role by supplying customers with everything they need—for revents, of course.
Merchants spend almost all their time in their stalls, selling goods either in Legion territory or Rebel territory. A merchant can decide exactly how to run their business. They can apply an extremely low markup to their goods, increasing local demand for their services, or impose a large markup and force customers to pay substantial sums of revents for a single item. The second option is especially popular among traders. But who would condemn such a way of doing business? Traders live on their customers' revents.
A merchant earns revents even when buying something. With direct access to the trade hole, they can sell their customers' goods through it while keeping part of the proceeds. While some risk their lives for an extra couple of revents, merchants live comfortably and earn more than many other inhabitants of the empire.
This role is important throughout the round and focuses on profitable trade through flexible markups and use of the trade hole for passive income. Success depends on balancing maximum profit with keeping goods attractive to customers, including through strategic discounts for regular buyers.
