Difficulty: Hard
Duties: Lead the College and watch over the Barrier.
Restrictions: The role's faction falls into the category of Combatant factions.
The Archmage is the wisest and oldest mage in the entire College. Supervising the Novices and the Barrier, as well as selling magical books, are the Archmage's duties.
How do you read and learn new spells? How should you manage your mana? How do you protect yourself from a curse? The Archmage, leader of the College of Mages, can help with all of these questions. Their main activities are issuing orders, assigning groups to search for scrolls, monitoring the Magic Barrier, and selling and teaching all kinds of magic. The Archmage must also remember to protect the entire College from outside threats, which means that no one should be allowed beyond the hall without a clear reason.

Protection from otherworldly evil forces and spirits comes from the Magic Barrier in the College's basement. Who placed it there and how is unknown, but its influence on the surrounding world is clear. If its stability falls to zero, demons will break free and consume the world. To prevent this, the Barrier must be fed magical scrolls that restore its stability. The Archmage may use any method to find scrolls, such as buying them from wanderers or recovering them through groups of mages. The important thing is to keep the Barrier stable.
If you choose to buy scrolls, there is room for creativity. Send a pair of mages to major settlements and task them with attracting wanderers who have scrolls to the College by promising payment. Alternatively, send the same pair of mages out with direct offers to buy the scrolls.
If the College's finances cannot support the large-scale, continuous purchase of scrolls, another option is to search for them in ruins. A group of Mages and Novices assigned for training could travel throughout the entire region in pursuit of these scrolls. This approach is more dangerous but costs less money.
Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages, so choose according to the situation and your circumstances.
Once the scrolls have been found and the region made safe, the mages can begin helping travelers in earnest by teaching them magic and admitting them into the College. With that security established, the Archmage may issue assignments to find special components and use them to create custom magical items. Put simply, once the search for scrolls is over, the Archmage is free to run the College however they wish, either helping people or closing its doors to them.
