¶ Foring
Difficulty: Hard
Duties: Helping the Jarl make decisions and command the army.
Restrictions: The role's faction falls into the category of Combatant factions.
The Foring is the Jarl's right hand, aide, and trusted adviser—an accomplished strategist and commander.
¶ Right Hand
Governing an entire country is not easy, especially when a single person bears responsibility for directing the army, managing equipment, and handling foreign policy. The Foring—the most trusted person of all—helps the Jarl solve pressing problems by assisting with paperwork, resource and army management, and relaying orders and reports to comrades.
¶ Rebel Adviser
As already noted, the Foring's primary task is to assist the Jarl. The central challenge of governing a state is communicating one's wishes and orders to ordinary people. Here, the Foring may be appointed as a civil adviser, receiving verbal orders to announce to passersby and assignments to take inventory of equipment in the Camp.
¶ Field Commander
If the Jarl desires victory but does not wish to take the field personally, the Foring can help here as well by becoming the Jarl's representative in battle. In that case, the Foring commands the Rebels' personnel, weapons and armor, ammunition and medicine, and gains the authority to wage battles and seize territory, freeing the region from the Legion.
¶ Conclusion
As such an important figure among the Rebels, the Foring is expected to act correctly and decisively. These expectations may come from ordinary people as well as the Jarl, who will clearly be displeased by constant defeats or missing equipment. The Foring must therefore be observant, strict, and intelligent.
