¶ Jarl
Difficulty: Hard
Duties: Leading the uprising and your people.
Restrictions: The role's faction falls into the category of Combatant factions.
The Jarl is the highest-ranking Rebel in the entire region. He leads the local center of resistance and his fighters.
¶ Leader of Freedom
The Jarl is the supreme commander of the movement for freedom from Legion oppression. He controls the camp in the north and an army of soldiers, some well trained and some not. Through collective effort, outside assistance, sound logistics, and successful tactics, the Jarl must prevail and drive out the Legion, liberating the region.
¶ The Jarl's Equipment
¶ Heralds of Revolution
The Jarl has an army of his own in the struggle against the Legion. It includes the Foring, Mage, Varangian, a group of Militiamen, and completely green Felags. With such a substantial force and the ability to recruit additional personnel among sympathizers and those looking to earn some money, the Jarl has a good chance of turning the situation around in a variety of ways.
The Jarl or his subordinates choose the tactics based on the army's skills and capabilities, the Legion's position, and the situation in the camp. Two options can be considered as examples:
¶ Encirclement and Destruction
The encirclement tactic is based on a sound knowledge of the terrain and cunning. Cunning can help in preparing ambushes, using traps, or carrying out diversions. Knowledge of the terrain, in turn, helps with properly positioning troops and responding quickly when battle begins.
¶ Full-Scale Battle
Knowing that two armies may meet face-to-face, the Jarl can employ many different approaches: lures, flanking maneuvers, and more. In every such situation, the Jarl must decide quickly; his warriors will handle the rest.
¶ Conclusion
Once the bloody war for independence is won, the burden of freedom descends upon the region. There is no more oppression by the Legion, no more prohibitions, no laws, and no taxes. With this victory, the Rebellion becomes the leading power in the area. What comes next is for the Jarl to decide; for now, everyone can celebrate and reap the fruits of this bitter and hard-won victory.
