Medicine is the art of healing, and sooner or later everyone who hopes to survive in the harsh world of Spellward will have to master it. This guide covers every form of treatment available in our world, from simple bandages and ointments to magic and alchemy.
After suffering too many wounds, a person—or any other sentient creature—enters a precritical condition. They can still breathe, move, though only by crawling, and even fight. If their wounds continue to accumulate, they enter a critical condition and begin to suffocate as their last strength fades.
Do not delay treatment for the gravely wounded: every lost moment could cost them their life—and cost you the money needed to buy a resurrection stone.
The sharper a healer's mind, the quicker their hands. High intelligence significantly speeds up the application of bandages, poultices, and ointments to others—an experienced healer can treat wounds at a pace that even a modern autodoc would envy.
They say time is the best healer, and that is partly true in this world as well. Rest is one of the simplest and most accessible ways to recover. Most everyday injuries—bruises, light cuts, and minor burns—can be healed simply by lying down when no supplies are available or when you are too stingy to use them. Just find the nearest bed and let your body rest.
Mages devoted to the light arts can heal wounds with a mere touch. Healing spells are commonly found in the grimoires of College Mages, Wandering Mages, and Priests. Although the last are not full-fledged mages, they too know a first-circle healing spell.

Not every gift of healing comes through the words of a spell or a sorcerer's gestures. Other knowledge and skills are embodied in various magical artifacts.
Sacred items can heal wounds in the hands of the faithful. They can be used by a character with the “Believer” trait or the Priestrole. Sacred relics can be obtained from the church in the Legion's port, found in an abandoned church somewhere in the world, or purchased from a merchant.
Before attempting to heal someone with a Bible or icon, put headgear on them. Without it, you may strike the target instead of healing them—the holy word demands proper humility from its recipient.
Skilled alchemists can brew potions that restore health. Making them yourself is extremely difficult; it is easier to find a local alchemist and buy the necessary remedies from them.
More about potions and potion brewing in general can be found in the alchemy guide.
There are three stages of bodily decay during which resurrection remains possible. Until the body finally turns to dust, there is still hope of returning the soul.
First Stage
Second Stage
Third Stage
After the third stage, the body decays completely and every attempt to use the stone will be futile.
Remedies and other substances are not absorbed by a dead body. Before resurrection, restore the body exclusively with plantain, bandages, ointment, or magic.
After resurrection, a person may remember the moment of their death. Bear this in mind the next time you decide to slit someone's throat in a dark alley.
